I’ve wondered why game developers weren’t trying to create games that don’t have loading screens for years now. It seems like something that, while a daunting task when you consider how much data has to be loaded and unloaded into the memory on the fly, is the logical progression for games as they evolve. Unfortunately the reason that development studios haven’t been doing this is because they’re being forced to focus so heavily on graphics that every other aspect of a game has been taking a back seat.

Well, it looks like I don’t have to wait much longer for my “no loading” game because it looks like SCE Santa Monica Studios and LightBox Interactive are making Starhawk. It’s a third person shoot (of which I think we need a lot more) that’s  a PlayStation 3 exclusive. The game boasts no loading, a system where you can call down weapons and vehicles from your orbital ship into the battlefield at will, and 32 player online multiplayer (not that you’d find 32 people worth playing with online, esspecially with the PlayStation 3′s awful online system).  Starhawk is set in the same universe as Warhawk was so we can probably assume that you’ll be doing a lot of six-axis controlling, and we can probably expect some Move support.

Anyway, other than the no loading feature, it looks like just another shooter to me. You be the judge:
