There have been a lot of rumors floating around about next generation consoles, and even if the ones about the successor to the Wii may actually be true, the others just aren’t. Both Microsoft and Sony have stated that they planned this generation to be a 10 generation (of which we are in year 6/7), and while it may be true they are both developing that new console now, it is unlikely that you’ll see anything for a while.
There has been rumors about Microsoft announcing a new Xbox at E3 this year, and again, this is not true. In fact even EA got in on the action stating that a new Xbox being announced was “100 percent untrue.” So, while you may hear about consoles that are still in their PC cases floating around on executives desks, that’s a far cry away from actually announcing anything. I’d say it’s safe to assume we won’t hear from either Microsoft or Sony about a new console for at least another 3-4 years. Sorry guys…
