So, we’re getting closer to the November 11th release of the Kinect, and as the clocks ticks down there are a lot more videos being released that show off what it can do. Unfortunately, the video that I saw recently proves the thing that I’ve been trying to tell everyone from the get go: THERE’S LAG! Yeah, and it’s not just some lag either, it’s around a full second or more. So, tell me how you’re going to turn that into a technology that can handle the pinpoint accuracy needed to play real games like shooters, action RPGs and the like Microsoft? The problem here is that without a drastic change to the hardware under the hood of the Xbox, there is no way to reduce the lag created by Kinect.

You may think I’m exaggerating, but when a game has to give you a signal to jump so that you can get used to the lag, you know there’s a problem. Even the Wii, which also had lag until just recently, didn’t lag as bad as that. So, enjoy your few casual titles for the Kinect because you’re not going to see Bioshock, Call of Duty, Dragon Age, Oblivion, Fallout, or any other real game come out that use the technology in any sort of playable way.
